Tai Chi DVD
Tai Chi masters had great respect and love for the art of Tai Chi, and I find myself wondering how they feel about the modern, Western face of this important martial art. After all, Tai Chi masters spent years and years studying Tai Chi, perfecting their form, working to be tough and exact, only to watch the martial art be taken up by a generation who uses it for health and fitness. But the final straw for these true Tai Chi masters has got to be the transition of the art into the digital age. Tai Chi can now be learned through instructional videos and DVDs.
When Tai Chi was first developed, it was practically sacred, only being taught to select, worthy individuals. To learn Tai Chi, you had to be living in a monastery. Tai Chi was only taught to common people when Tai Chi master Chen Chang Hsing broke with tradition and decided to tutor a talented young man.
Prior to this, in order to learn Tai Chi, a young boy had to commit his life to the Tai Chi discipline at a very early age. Following this pattern, the Tai Chi student would become an adept while in his teens. And he would be in the prime of his life before the rank of master would ever be bestowed upon him. Traditionally, Tai Chi is more than a martial art, it is a lifestyle and an entire philosophy that people devoted their entire lives to.
However, with the digital era and the advent of the internet, there are is an abundance of education and learning options where people can learn Tai Chi. You no longer are required to dedicate your life to it and live in a monastery, but rather you can enroll in a class, or take advantage of Tai Chi instructional videos.
Tai Chi DVDs are growing in popularity. The reason for this is simple. Tai Chi DVDs fit neatly into our busy schedules, as they can be viewed, paused and resumed anytime as fits our busy modern lives. Many people today who are learning and enjoying Tai Chi are professionals and parents with busy, hectic lifestyles and enrolling in a traditional class with set meeting times is not an option. Each lesson may cover a form in it’s entirety, and will include visuals and footage that help to enhance and complement the lesson.
You can find a wide range of very good Tai Chi DVDs online. However, there is a downside to this in that the options can become overwhelming. However, we have listed some sites here with Tai Chi DVDs that are effective and solid.
